Galloway Beef
What are you Getting?
Our Premium Galloway Beef comes from a hardy, heritage breed that originated in the rugged hills of southwestern Scotland. Known for its distinct taste, Galloway cattle are easily recognizable by their shaggy outer coat, which grows over their regular fur. This unique coat allows them to thrive in colder climates, shedding the excess hair in warmer months.
The combination of their thick coat and grazing habits plays a significant role in the growth and marbling of the meat. Galloway cattle require less fat to stay warm during the winter, and they are able to continue growing on a grass-only diet, supplemented with essential minerals. At our farm, we ensure that absolutely no grain is fed to our herd, maintaining the natural, high-quality meat our customers enjoy.
"Oreo Cookie" Cow
Galloway Beef has been called the "Oreo Cookie" cow because of its distinctive black coat and thick white stripe that wraps around the entire center.
Different Colors
The dominant color of the Galloway breed is Black. Over the years the "belt" has been bred selectively and even the "red" or "dun" color has become quite popular. Regardless of the quality of the belt or color, the meat is still just as tasty.
Grass Fed and Minerals
Our Galloway cows graze on a diet of Orchard grass, red and white Clover, Alfalfa and other natural grasses found in our pastures. they are also provided year round with an unlimited supply of mixed hay that we make ourselves and purchases as needed from the local farmers. We supplement a variety of minerals from Kraut Creek to ensure there are no deficiencies in their diet.
