About Our Family
Our family’s story began in an unexpected way, with two very different people falling in love on a blind date. Although we both attended the same high school in northeastern Indiana, we lived entirely separate lives with different goals and paths. It wasn’t until after high school that our lives intersected, and we officially met in 2010. We married in 2013, and in 2019, we moved to Martinsville with our newborn son. From the moment we arrived, we fell in love with the community and knew this was the place where we wanted to raise our family.
I (Lindsey) was raised in the heart of farm life, where I spent my childhood caring for hundreds of cattle, horses, and other animals. For me, the farm was everything, and I even took my favorite calf to school for picture day (see above). Growing up on a farm meant working with animals and facing all the challenges that come with that lifestyle. In 2010, I worked at an exotic animal farm, taking care of camels, wallabies, exotic birds, and mini donkeys. Later, in 2014, I ventured into a brief career in aviation as a flight attendant, where I had the opportunity to travel the U.S., flying with sports teams and oil workers on chartered flights. After nearly a decade in business and finance, I finally decided it was time to follow my passion and start my own venture. That’s when I founded Take Flight Farmstead, with the goal of providing our community with premium-quality beef, chicken, and other farm products.
Aaron, my husband, grew up with a love for working on engines, riding motorcycles, playing loud music, and a deep passion for aviation. He graduated from high school early and embarked on a career in commercial aviation that has taken him around the world for over 15 years. After establishing himself as a pilot for a major U.S. airline, Aaron embraced the challenges of farm life and has become an integral part of our shared dream to bring the finest local farm products to our community.
